Who Am I?

I am a wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, columnist, motivational speaker, and daughter of my King, Jesus Christ!

I am also a child of an alcoholic who watched my father and brother die from the disease, while watching my mother struggle to survive and hold her family together. I had a failed marriage, divorced, and have remarried. I am a mother to two grown children who struggled with drug

addiction. I am a grandmother that is raising two of my grandsons.  I am a teacher of 35+ years who is getting tired, but still loving it!

One last thing- I recently discovered that I really need to be writing more, so be on the lookout!

Perfect? No. Happy? Yes. I am living and walking in victory not because of religion, but because of a relationship - with my Heavenly Father!

Where Have I Been?

I have lived my entire life in Kannapolis, North Carolina, except for my college years at Gardner Webb University and UNC-Charlotte.

What Else?

As a teacher, I taught grades K-8, was part-time math curriculum coach in K-4, earned my Masters Degree in Education, achieved National Board Certification- Middle Childhood Generalist, Time Warner Cable All-Star Teacher, Teacher of the Year, Kannapolis City Schools Alternate Teacher of the Year, teacher mentor, and taught thousands of students -that I still love!

As part of my Christian walk, I taught Sunday School 20+ years, led youth groups, directed Praise Teams, wrote plays, directed drama teams, and led youth in serving on mission trips and in the church. I served as a women’s ministry director, Bible study leader, and motivational speaker for 15+ years, desiring to encourage others in their daily walk with Christ. I have also served in ‘Passion for Purity’ ministries with Ashley Rae, directed the ECHO drama team, and write columns for the Faith section of the Salisbury Post.

As a mother and grandmother, I have been blessed. I have learned to love more, sleep less, work hard, make sacrifices, and pray, pray, pray!

As an advocate for addicts and their families, I have learned that we can not give up- ever. We cannot lose hope!

As a wife, I have been spoiled - and blessed - by a husband who is the most godly man I know and who is my support system. He faithfully prays for me, makes sure my needs are met, and gives me strength each day.

What About Me - Ms. Ann?

I love to get up early, enjoy a cup of coffee, and begin my day with a personal devotion, prayer time, and quiet time, which often ends up in writing time. I then head into my day- as a keeper of the home - and for much of my life, the keeper of the classroom.

I love being at home with my family. I love vacations- when they actually get to come around. I love to exercise to offset my love for food. I love listening to worship music. I love watching people. I love watching those I have taught in school or in church grow up!

What Now?

As a writer and speaker, I have been amazed to see this ministry evolve- only God could do that! He was preparing me for such a time as this all those years - and I didn’t even know it!

Thanks for stopping by- and please join me on my journey as I hope to encourage and strengthen you by sharing my thoughts and life’s experiences on annfarabee.com. My life is definitely not perfect- but it’s perfect for me!

It’s a God thing…
